The world needs more accordion-oriented mixes. This mix intrigues me rather a lot.

I think I had the same problem/joy as you. 2007 was a great, prolific year in music. Andrew Bird was a great musical find for me last year, and TMBG's The Else was a joy (did you get the bonus disc?) I've been debating whether or not to purchase the Ween album . . . would you recommend it?

I love the cover artwork . . . my friend used to make me handmade postcards and I loved them. I like how you've highlighted the folky side of some bands not traditionally associated with the genre. Applause for the Gentleman Reg, Nick Drake and Destroyer tracks.

Sweet buttered toast, I need to drop by here more often. Belated "aw shucks"es for making the grade (twice! yes!), and I have to second your love of Single Artist mixes for exactly the same reasons!

Chickaboom! Good lord . . . that song was an integral part of my childhood, on a well-worn K-Tel album at my grandmother's house, where I was shipped off to every summer. If she had ever listened to the lyrics of that song, I'm sure she would have had any number of cows. This is a terrific soundtrack to your personal movie. It has a certain Stand By Me quality to it, methinks. Gadzooks, I miss my mustard yellow banana bike.

Heh . . . I like Pollo Asado too. I bought an expensive imported CD single of "Freedom of '76" (which I also like) just to get my hands on it. 'Course, this was in those treasure hunty days before mp3s. Speaking of, if you haven't found it already, my favourite free mp3 site is 3hive.com. Make sure you check out the extensive archives! By the way, thought you should know that the blues mix you made for me last year has never left my heavy rotation list. :)

I had no idea Ian & Sylvia did a cover of Takin' Care of Business. Intriguing!

Completely excellent idea. I'd like to think that my own head would look like this but not like this: songs my parents listened to, heavy rotation hits that never dislodged, songs I wore down and spontaneous tunes that marked a moment. I likes it.

Tres awesome idea. It's a total snapshot of the eclecticism of any given library collection. My local library was the same . . . it introduced me to Matthew Sweet. Good times.

Sweetness. I especially like how "Chancellor" is followed by Great Lake Swimmers - nice move!

I was wondering if someone was going to do this today... Great to see you didn't leave out the Moog Cookbook (or the Rentals). I especially like how your picks span the decades - great work!

Ooo! Ooo! "Kung Fu" by Ash. Fits in thematically, though not as well musically . . . At any rate, sweet idea!

Amen to that! Thumbs up to the B&S, Ween and Ella tracks. I grew up listening to a lot of Fats Domino (via my dad and his penchant for bargain bin cassettes) . . . I really have to get me some on CD.

I think the danger with a soundtrack mix is that it could quickly become predictable or boring, but there's no danger of that here! I love the eclecticism of this mix . . . and kudos for including two of my favourite composers: Mancini and Elfman.

Tres intriguing!

What an awesome idea . . . I totally prefer the sound of a contrabass to its electric counterpart. Nice to see it show up in some unexpected places. (P.S. - both mixes rock, but I think I like this one a little more.)

Tres bien! Sloan has a song called "The Marquee and the Moon" that wouldn't be entirely out of place on this mix.

If you can, I highly recommend you listen to CBC Radio 3 (which is broadcast on CBC Radio 2 . . . don't ask) on Saturday nights and/or early Monday mornings. Your mixes remind me a lot of the playlists they use. http://www.cbc.ca/listen/index.html

Heh . . . I used a Weezer b-side and a TMBG live song too. Great 7th track pick and hooray for some Dick Dale!

Nice work. I just recently heard "I Can't Explain" for the first time too . . . and I totally agree with your choices for tracks 4 & 13.

A mixchange made for a fri*nd of mine. It's rather heavy on banjo (intentional) and songs about murder (completely unintentional).
