Comment:

In the 70s Neil Young came out with a song that offendered some Southerners, a song called Southern man. Southern rock band Lynard Skynard came out with a musical retort that became a big hit. It was called Sweet Home Alabama. Well, Neil Young is poised to come out with a song that is sure to offend some conservatives: A song called Impeach the President. Instead of waiting till the song came out, Dr. BLT wrote and recorded this preeemptive strike, Neil Young, Have You Forgotten? Ironically, Dr. BLT is a huge Neil Young fan, who wrote and recorded Father's Day Song of Sympathy for Neil Young when Neil's father passed away just prior to Father's Day '05. United 93 has become the underground theme song for the movie by the same title. Dr. BLT had a cameo in 2002 in a music video by Cake that was nominated for Groundbreaking Music video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards. His song, Black Santa hit the top 30 download charts at mp3000 in December of 2005, peaking at #21.

The logic of the first song is barely present. Suggesting Bush be impeached has nothing (really) to do with 9/11, let alone some kind supposed malice on the part of Young toward 9/11 victims (as the song implies). There are quite a few reasons Bush should be impeached, most of which stem from lying about the reasons for going to war (with a country which had nothing to do with 9/11!). This fellow's also one of the most lyrically vacant, unsophisticated songwriters I've heard in a long while. I'm shocked that he's psychologist, of all things, as he's entirely lacking in any kind of understanding. Heck, perhaps there's more to him than that execrable first song; but on that alone, he doesn't make you want to investigate his oeuvre.
