Comment:

By now, you've probably figured out that while Hanukkah is a tradition, it certainly doesn't stand on tradition, as our Deep Cuts artists demonstrate rather convincingly. Singer-songwriter Marc Cohn takes a break from walking in Memphis to deliver a very different reading of "Rock of Ages-Ma'oz Tzur" than the one we heard earlier from Theodore Bikel, infusing it with a dark, ethereal, almost Daniel Lanois-esque depth, both ancient and modern at the same time. For the several billion of you who aren't exactly sure how to spell this holiday - oy vey, all the tsuris over transliteration! - the LeeVees sort it all out to a rockin' beat in "How Do You Spell Channukkahh?" And speaking of beats, Chutzpah represents for the Chosen People, OG-style - complete with Casiotone - in their holiday-sized helping of Hanukkah hip-hop, "Chanukah's Da Bomb."
