Volume 1 of 16 - Complete Beatles' Covers Project.

The Goal:
To show how celebrated and influential is the most important musical group of the last century, The Beatles.
The Project:
To Record the whole Beatles' albums official discography (EMI/Parlophone) in the order that these discography appeared in the market, using other artists (covers) versions.
Background:
In 2001 I decided to upgrade my Beatle's tribute albums collection. By that time I owned around twenty or thirty albums that included some classical like "Songs Of The Beatles" by Sarah Vaughan, "The Other Side of Abbey Road" by George Benson, "Basie's Beatle Bag" by Count Basie's Ochestra, "(I Got No Kick Against) Modern Jazz - A GRP Artists' Tribute To The Songs Of The Beatles" a GRP Records, by various artists and others. In 2006 the collection was over 350 albums and still growing. My "wanted" list was over 200. At this moment I assume I got sufficient material to keep on going with the project.
Exe cution:
For the project exe cution I cre ated my own rules:
- Not to repeat a single artist.
- Not to use obvious versions, that is, those that where huge exits with their secondary interpreters, even going bigger than the Beatles' original versions in some occasions. Examples are: I Call Your Name by The Mamas & The Papas, With A Little Help From My Frien ds by Joe Cocker and others.
- Try to embrace the higher number of known artists, with variety of musical styles and genres. This results in the inclusion of some (very few) not so brilliant versions, which however, validated the documental matter of the project. The only drawback was the huge amount of good things that were not included.
Result:
A real musical salad! From unquestionable "Blue Eyes", diva Diana Krall and insuperable Ella Fitzgerald and CTlia Cruz to new, not well known, interpreters, from erudite Plßcido Domingos, Cathy Berberian and the Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic to industrial rock, metal and punk bands, the four guys from Liverpool in their solo careers, classy players like Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and G÷ran S÷llscher, all playing Beatles. Interpreters singing in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, German in rhythms of rock, blues, jazz, ballad, baroque, pop, opera, childish, tango, calypso etc.
Over twelve and half hours of music. Hope you enjoyed it. 01/16 - 114219 02/16 - 114220 03/16 - 114222 04/16 - 114223 05/16 - 114224 06/16 - 114225 07/16 - 114226 08/16 - 114227 09/16 - 114230 10/16 - 114231 11/16 - 114233 12/16 - 114234 13/16 - 114235 14/16 - 114236 15/16 - 114238 16/16 - 114239. Ooops. Well, new to AOTM I submitted 16 mixes the same day. Since I was criticized by several members I decided to de lete 13 that I will be posting some others days. Sorry for that.

looks like you must've missed the note there on the "submit a mix" page, the one in bold. your mixes look pretty good, but you've just knocked a chunk of other peoples' mixes off the "recently posted" page by submitting 16 all at once. not a good start, my friend. well, welcome to the site anyway. just calm down and take things a bit slower, huh?

I'm simply blown away by this series, this is incredible. This obviously the result of many year's labor. Is there a way to listen to some of these mixes?

As a huge Beatles fan I love this series. So glad you've decided to spread out the rest. 16 mixes is just too much to digest. Sick to 1 or 2 a day and watch the comment count rise heavily, I promise you.. 5 stars :)

thanks, ladakale. it really does look like an incredible series, and will surely be a favorite here at AotM. I would love to hear some of these too, especially the Kremlin Graceful Balalaikas Band. do you have "English Muffins" [aka. "Stormy Night In London"] by The Mystic Moods Orchestra? I just found it recently, and it's got some nice instrumental Beatles covers on it, with crashing waves in the background.
