Comment:

An Explanation is in Order:- This is, BY FAR, my most, ummmm..unique mix. I was looking to present some odd, exploratory, mind-bending (sorry, can't help it) musical selections; while at the same time intermingling intriguing juxtapositions with subtle, yet captivating blends. This one has been the hopper for some time. And, when I had noted, jokingly, within my commentary on SammyG123's most recent and typically AMAZING mix that there was, ".Not even a smidgen of unlistenable-noisy-avant-glitch-doom-post-proto-world-fusion to be found", then inquired "where's the moment of irritation and annoyance?" Well, good listener, look no further!- Secondly, the track-list is a tad misleading. There are a total of 43 tracks introduced within this 80 minute blended mix. Tracks excerpts not listed (above) include: Introduction and Closing Announcements (Moonlight Serenade) from Glenn Miller & The Andrew Sister's The Chesterfield Broadcasts, Where You Belong and The Do-Rights from "Nova Express" by William S. Burroughs, Dharmas by Req, Odwalla by Steven R. Smith, L' Autel de la Perte et de la Transformation by Brigitte RobindorT, CandleGoat/Bathori by Sunn O))) , Joga Toca by Derek Bailey + Cyro Baptista, Interlude - Himalayan Bells by Kendra Smith and an overlayed drone piece by Aidan Baker. Additionally, several tracks are, in actuality, two songs blended for additional nuance (agitation?) and (to save space) are listed as such (but, most tracks could have fit that criteria).- Furthermore, I must note, there is an obvious nod to two on-line guides I find indispensable. They are: The Aquarius Records of the Week Listing and The Wire Charts. God, I LOVE music lists!!!!- Lastly, so as to not leave the uninitiated scratching their heads (along with me), all track hyperlinks lead you to some additional info/review/blurb/anecdote about the Artist, Album, Compilation, Label, etc. To dive right in.the mix can be had by clicking HERE. I hope you enjoy! And, my thanks to anyone willing to take the journey.- P.S. Best enjoyed via headphones. Far out.- Further Corrections made to alleviate my inability to read a map, nor utilize a globe. Vienna = Austria, Venice = Italy, Staten Island = New York...all news to this fool.

Although, I think to get that authentic Aquarius Records vibe, you need some stumbling "retarded" black metal. ;)

Though I wasn't attempting to emulate Aquarius' vibe (I have only been in the store twice, but order from innumerable times)...I think Striborg, Abruptum, Furze, Wold, Disembowelment, Xasthur, Leviathan, Corrupted and/or Thrones might have to grace my next mix. ALL of these were Aquarius Records of the Week. Which, imho, have been kinda difficult listening experiences. But, they're growing on me. Geez, if I post something like that, it might be the most universally disliked mix of the week. ... ... ..hmm... ... ...Oh, now, I've gots to do it. Anyone got that Earl Shilton album?

The location under Christian Fennesz' name has me a little worried that my hometown was annexed by Italy overnight without me even noticing; my morning paper seems to imply that this didn't actually happen and that I still live in Austria, though. I am not sure whether to be relieved or disappointed! Geopolitical quibbling aside: This looks spectacular, Chris; I can only that the error message I get from megaupload is only temporary, as I'd love to hear this.

This IS the mix that satisfies. Tremendous.. I of course listened through headphones, nw my ears are ringing and my head spinning.. So much variety & wonderment, and strangely not as hard going as I expected. So many great tracks, but for me you saved the best till almost last ( the Eddie Ray ). Loved this Chris. Goodnight Vienna...

Man, this mix is sensory overload. Aside for the top notch tracks, and all the links provided, you've dropped two valuable music lists for me! I'm gonna be busy digesting this mix and those lists and those links! If my boss give you a call Chris, you'll know why.

Superb work! Really excellent depth of cross mixing. Loved the nuance/ "nuisance" of Piero Umiliani & The Doors. Great notes and linkage. Also nice to hear WSB's distinctive readings threading through - I really must have a go at a "spoken word" mix myself sometime.

[if you could see me, you'd note that I'm smoking a Chesterfield as I type.] another amazing mass of music, gnome. I agree about the Eddie Ray track, and I also liked the Xiu Xiu a lot and the tune with the fiddles playing at the 38:00 mark. really, an amazing set.
