Last year the new TV series I watched regularly was FX's "The Riches." For those unfamiliar with the plot line, it concerns a family of grifters who assume the identity of an upper-middle class Louisiana family that met an untimely demise. Minnie Driver, who plays the wife of the head of the family, has just finished a two-year stretch in the joint for a con game. She's unsure they can change their criminal ways but is willing to try.

A couple of the songs from the series were sung by Julee Cruise, who's probably best known for being a frequent collaborator with composer Angelo Badalamenti and film director David Lynch. I've been watching the first season of "Twin Peaks" on dvd this winter where Cruise not only provides vocals for three songs but appears briefly as a bar singer in a couple episodes. This brand of "dream pop" works well here and in "Blue Velvet" as well. Apparently Cruise has always been obsessed with crime (as have I). Last year two of her songs were featured in episodes of CSI New York and CSI Las Vegas.

Anyway, Cruise's songs and crime provided the impetus for this mix, as usual assembled from the forensic evidence in the racks of vinyl.

Quiz: Cruise did some subbing for a singer in a pop group during the '90s. Which one? A free copy of the mix with full artwork goes to the winner.

Well, I've always loved Julee Cruise since her Twin Peaks days and I have all her albums. She has done guest vocals on lots of albums for a bunch of different groups and artist during the past twenty years but I bet you're looking for the B-52's. I think she actually toured with them for a time in the 90s but I don't know who was gone. Nice mix too

I have to say, you're product qualities are unreal. Bravo! This is SO professionally put together (whether it be track selection, sequencing, cover art)...fant-freakin-tastic!!!! I am inspired.

I don't know the answer to your quiz - but I know this is a fine mix with tremendous cover art. Diggin the Beef, Danny Wilson (always had a soft spot for them ), and more Stan Ridgway on AotM!

Julee is one of a kind. Also loving the epic Jane Child. Nicely eclectic tracklist.

This is an extremely well done mix throughout. Cover art, production and engineering. The selection kept my attention throughout, always kept you wondering. I looked at the Reivers followed by Captain Beefheart and even with "Girls just wanna have fun " I had to listen. I wasn't disappointed. Keep up the good work.

I agree with Luke on Julee, and just the right dose of Beefheart.
