Comment:

On a cool bright morning in February, Goldie Ann Proudfoot left this world. She was my great-aunt.

Goldie was a notorious grump except when she took her medicine, a potent mix of illegal narcotics that would make even Pete Doughtery blush. That was the only time I ever caught a glimpse of Goldie's glorious smile. Her remaining teeth, though thoroughly rotten, were the straightest I've ever seen.

For the most part Goldie hated music. We had to remember to turn the radio off before she entered the house or else she'd spit and snarl for hours. "I DECIDE WHAT GOES THROUGH THESE EARS!" she yelled.   But luckily there were a few exceptions:  El Debarge made her "giddy as a school girl", she had a fondness for Captain Beefheart's early 80s albums, and she relished any rendition of the song "There's No Business Like Show Business".

Though she was once a successful golf pro at the local country club, crack cocaine and methamphetamine eventually got the better of her and she spent the last 5 years of her life penniless, wandering the streets of Milwaukee where, to the locals, she was affectionately known as "Goldibags". The family offered to put her up in a high-rise condo but she flatly refused. That was my Auntie for you -- never willing to take a hand-out from anyone.

So this one's for you Goldie, up there in heaven. Let's hope it's not too long before El Debarge shows up with a big bag of crack.

I hope that Goldie has an endless supply of her favorite home remedy up in that Great Patent Medicine Factory in the Sky (TM "expired"). Always a treat to see a Cow Macy mix, no matter how sad the occasion. *glug*

One of the most unique tributes (and mixes) I've ever seen.

if this is supposed to be some sort of spoof on the mix I made for my grandmother who recently passed away, I find it highly offensive.

april fools. good to see you back, Cow Macy. I only have three things to say to you: 1. I'll always remember the time when you, Goldibags and I all got together for lunch in D.C. and she used the Bunny DeBarge CD I got her as an ashtray.2. there's no business like DeBarge business. 3. mooooo.

That old bitch still owes me $180 for a bag of rocks. I'm gonna drag her outta hell and put her on the street until she's paid back every motherlovin' cent.

I once shared a taxi with Eldra DeBarge and Mel Torme, and I can bear witness to the fact that they are both absolute gentlemen.

I like the concept and hope this is just in good fun and has nothing to do with any other tribute mixes on the site.
