Comment:

Is whistling finally cool again, thanks
to Peter Bjorn and John? I don't know, but I would welcome it. My 2005 version of "Whistle a Happy Tune!"
has motivated several people to sign up with AotM over the years, just so they could email me and ask how they could get the mix.
Cleary, some dedicated whistling afficionados are out there.

I've been fascinated by artful whistling ever since I heard "I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman" as a kid. Thankfully, I've since come across many tunes that feature
more sophisticated whistling, too. In the last couple of years I've collected enough new whistling tunes to allow for a substantial revision of my earlier mix. I believe this
new version is more dynamic and features a greater variety of both musical and whistling styles.

I am planning to take a sabbatical from AotM, so this will be my last mix for a while. The time has come for me to stop and smell the roses . . . see you all later!

As an owner of the original version of this and a long-time Toots Thielemans fan I applaud you. Don't stay away too long.

Wow! This might be the best feel-good mix I've ever encountered. I've been listening to this on and off all day today - so far the only tunes not new to me are Sweet Georgia Brown and the three(?) soundtracks. I am very grateful for this :)

I really hate whistling in public. Don't mind it on records though especially on that New Vaudeville Band track. Love the artwork.

Still a clever concept, though the age & genre of most tracks confirms that whistling is not exactly a significant trend in modern music. One notable exception might be the Meat Puppets' "Whistling Song." Racked my brain, but the only other somewhat modern artist that comes to mind is Phish, who would often include whistled verses in lengthier tracks (i.e. "Guyute," "Reba"), though I can understand why they might be excluded from this mix.

Your first one was the mother of all whistlers mixes, so I know the sequel is going to be great. Enjoy your break from AOTM. We'll be waiting for you when you get back.

everyone in the office enjoyed this one. how could they not? it blew the clouds apart and the sun came shining through. the whole thing was great, but especially loved "I Whistle a Happy Tune" and "Uy Calypso" pair and the one playing at 44:30. was it "Hawaiian War Chant?" the one playing at 58:00 was also a favorite. whistling harmonies galore! beautiful. was it "Mexican Whistler?" anyway, you're off on a high note; enjoy your time away, and if we need you to pop in for a sec to offer advice or provide a musical tip, we'll just whistle!
