And there we went, Barry Dali and I, off to explore roots music. This has been probably my favorite alt-dj to date, mainly because Barry has such excellent taste in the music that appeals to me the most. I've hidden this gem long enough, and now it is posted. As Joe Ely sings, "To hide the key to your heart is to risk forgetting where you placed it."

You can download disc one here.
And download disc two here.

Quiz - Which musician chose a stage name from a cha`racter in Harper Lee's novel "To K*ll A Mockingbird"? To the winner goes a copy of the mix tracked and with artwork.

It's Scout Niblett, isn't it? I seem to remember reading that somewhere, and Scout is definitely a cha_racter in the book.

This is something I'm absolutely drooling over even before listening. (Better mop it up before someone slips on it.)

I love that the first mix I see after not visiting this site for a year (forgive me) is Barrydali-related. The best of the status quo has been upheld. As for the mix, its unity of style and vision is extremely impressive, to say nothing of the excellent songs on their own (of which my personal faves would include Clem Snide (not so much that particular Barzelay track, though, but points for good taste anyhow), Jenny Lewis, Neko Case, Buddy Miller, and The Frames). The rest I look forward to discovering newly.

Wish I could win myself a copy, but despite loving dearly that book when I read it 15 years ago, I have no idea who the reference is. I will guess Scout Niblet for obvious reasons, but the Niblett part doesn't work (unless that's some obscure one-time nickname-y usage in the book that I forgot about?) and for sure you wouldn't make it that easy for me...would you?

Oh wait kmbone already said that. Oh well, at least let me vow that I wasn't just copying that answer. I didn't see until it afterwards. Nevertheless, me lose

Huh, I never thought of Evan Dando as roots music, but I never paid that much attention. I know I love most of this and I'm sure I'd love the rest.

kmbone slipped in the correct answer and we have a winner.

Oh, and not to dismiss any other alt-dj partners of mine. I like each and every one we've made, though this one really grabbed me at the moment.
