Comment:

It was short, yet rarely sweet, but in the space of two studio albums, hundreds of firestorm gigs, and a bunch of generously donated downloads, the Libertines felt like the best band in Britain — if not the world. Rough like the Pistols, poetic like the Smiths, and produced by Mick Jones (the Clash) and Bernard Butler (Suede), the band exceeded all fans' hopes and expectations of rock 'n' roll bliss. Driven by the love/hate partnership between Carl Barât and Pete Doherty, who shared the vocal honours, the lads released their first single (the double A-side "What a Waster" & "I Get Along") in June 2002 and played together — with Doherty in the line-up — for the last time in June 2004. These tracks capture the Libertines at their finest.
