Comment:

I picked up a Mac client for the Audiogalaxy network only a few weeks ago. Loved how you could find obscurities unavailable on most P2Ps. Among my recent highlights: Afrika Bambaataa live tapes from early 80s, out of print EPs like Liquid Liquid, and finding on the cusp talents like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Adult.

Now its gone, or at least the songs are, due to a settlement with the RIAA .

These are my last 12 downloads. A is for Allah may well be the funniest thing I've gotten off the Internet, a devout Cat Stevens after he went crazy. There's also a couple good jazz tunes I know I wouldn't have been able to get elsewhere.

What were your last few downloads before it all ended?

Nice. This is the first I've heard of Audiogalaxy's demise. I was never able to use their site, but I knew it had almost every song under the sun.

I did two Stevie Wonder mixes before it went down. I know about finding hard to find stuff, check out my Inkubus Sukkubus and Ijahman Levi mixes.

Sad indeed. I was midway through downloading a Gore Gore Girls track, then it was all over.

It was as good as gone to me a few weeks ago when they updated their download satellite that makes it impossible to aviod gator. I just can't abide by such nasty, nasty spyware.

Still a bummer tho... But take heart. Something better will always come along and fill in the vaccuum...

yep, it was a sad sad day. too late to stop filesharing, though, so i'm optimistic that the next evolution will be just as good or better. information wants to be free! etc etc.
