This is Part 1 of a series highlighting the original masters of the blues. Plenty of influences abound here, some direct and some indirect, but they're all the real deal. Sure, we all know that Blues gave birth to Rock 'N Roll, but one listen to James Brown's "Messin' With The Blues" album will make it clear that R&R also had a little brother, Funk.
