Comment:

When you're the caliber of band that's shown rock just what it's capable of, you'll have no problem casting a serious shadow. There's a pretty straight line from Queen to Lady GaGa, in that they both start out at maximum overdrive . . . and then take it to the next level of outrageousness, as you can hear in the stage-ready romp of "Poker Face." Green Day makes no secret of their debt to Queen (after all, their cover of "We Are the Champions" has been a staple of the band's live show), and on "21 Guns" they ratchet the drama from brooding murmur to anthemic massiveness. And the Scissor Sisters inject a sinister overtone into their seemingly cheery cabaret chanson, "Intermission." From Rufus Wainwright to Jellyfish to Cheap Trick, it seems like some of our favorite artists have plugged into Queen's elegance and energy, and this list proves that there's more than enough to go around.
