Comment:

Speaking in the simplest terms possible, 311's been a rap-rock band from the very beginning, complete with crunch-time chords, box-cutter rhymes, and a co-vocalist who spins and scratches records onstage. Tiptoe past the surface tension, however, and you'll find a fearless gang of genre-jumpers — slipping feel-good reggae, slap-happy funk, and feathery Caribbean pop into a potent stew that simmers somewhere between Fishbone, Sublime, and pure, unadulterated SoCal punk. Numbskull metal chased with cutting room hip-hop this isn't — more like the finer "Omaha Stylee" points of 311, a band that's been around 15-plus years for a reason.
