Comment:

The somewhat strange offspring of my ongoing obsession with the NOW sound and Beatles covers. Just like the first two volumes in the series this contains a hidden bonus track.

I too am obsessedwith Beatles covers, but you seem to really take the concept to a whole other level. A great mix I'd love to hear someday. And that sure is a classy chair for the cover.

Frankie Laine doing Maxwell's Silver Hammer now that I've got to hear along with the Max Bygraves. Excellent stuff.

Another distorted refraction through the yellow plastic of the 1960s. Along this line, I've always been curious about the Exotic Beatles series, which I've never heard. Du nimmst mir den Verstand.

Is there no end to the variety of offbeat Beatles covers? Maybe I'm amazed.

I don't mean to inflate your ego, but this looks way fab, Mr. Mohr. I want to hold your hand, and get a copy of this mix.

I'm sure this is all fine, Herr Mohr, and I'm sure this took a hell of a lot of effort, etc., but aren't the original versions infinitely better? I hate to call you out for being intentionally contrarian ("the Rolling Stones are the most overrated band in history" and other such statements offering support for this theory), but suppose I am, nonetheless. I mean, this stuff is all fine for record geeks (of which I am one, admittedly), but I get annoyed when someone who wouldn't be caught dead including an actual *Beatles* song on a mix because it would be too "obvious" then compiles a hipster series of (often) unlistenable and (even more often) campy covers of songs by the greatest band of all-time (who you have, in so many words in another forum, slagged repeatedly).

Intentionally contrarian? MOI? Actually, Mr. Conroy, I don't believe I am. I seriously think the Rolling Stones probably are the most overrated band of all time - which doesn't mean they're bad, just that I think they don't deserve the quasi-Godlike status they enjoy. I never stated the Beatles were a crap band, but rather that they were overplayed and I preferred their mid-period albums to most of what they recorded before or after. I'd include a Beatles song in a mix anytime if I thought it fit in nicely; it just never crossed my mind to do so - for no special reason, certainly not because it might ruin my "hipster" rep. And, finally, I find most of this stuff thoroughly enjoyable (and in most cases listenable) in its own way - but maybe that's simply cuz I have a penchant for campy covers.

Fair enough. It just kind of rubbed me the wrong way, despite the fact that I'm sure it's incredibly well-reserached, put together, and listenable in its compiled form. "Camp" is not really my thing, I guess. And mid-period Beatles are my favorite Beatles, too.

At the risk of lacking any consistency in my opinions [ ;~) ], I have to say this looks superb Thomas. There's nowt wrong with a bit of wholesome obsession.

Hey T, so sorry I missed this at the time, but here I am now! If this is anything like the Beatle-cover mix you sent me, well: WOW
What the hell was Conroy on about?

Oh, and I'm with you: the Stones are completely over-rated!
