Comment:

Vol 2 in an occasional series. Goth fans won't need telling that Batfish are what happened when Simon was kicked out of The March Violets. Sock It To 'Em JB is James Bond not James Brown. Kate Bush's Sexual Healing is the b-side of King Of The Mountains. Grey DeLisle as well as being a wiz on the auto-harp is also a voice artist for cartoons - Daphne in the New Scooby Doo being one of her numerous credits. The Doves are Joy Division all over again - at least they're from Manchester and not New York. Willow's Song is of course from The Whicker Man and is mimed by a nude Britt Ekland as she bangs the walls of the room in which Edward Woodward is trying to sleep. Teresa Brewer has been around forever and sung everything from dixie, swing, Jazz, Country & R'n'Roll novelty. Sisters Of Mercy, with Bauhaus, were/are Goth's zenith. After their demise Goth should have retired - unfortunately US consumption in Goth inspired both bands' insipid reformation. Bela's at a Shopping Mall near you. Laibach & enjoy!

Barbara doing Marleys wedding song, Guava Jelly, that's a little bizarre, cool stuff as usual

Well, there are several German-language covers of the Archies' "Sugar Sugar" and "Jingle Jangle" . . . But, once again, I'll have to correct you on your Joyman stuff (haha!): While there WAS a (French-language) song by Nana Mouskouri going by the same title, the song Laibach covered was written by Drafi Deutscher (under his pen name, Renate Vaplus)and sung by an Italian named Bino (in Italian and in German). Anyways, it's a truly dreadful piece of music. ;)

Kate and Babs singing Sexual Healing and Guava Jelly? Too fucking perfect. I'm still wary of that Goth palaver mind you. It led to half the men in Yorkshire wearing mascara in the 1980s.

I would lvoe to hear this. Specifically, the Jesus and Mary Chain...that seems wonderous. One of the few albums that I don't have by them.

2 things, Mushroom was a b-side and can be found on a b-side compilation titled Barb Wire Kisses or something of that nature. About Laibach - my info came from AMG
'Their new version of Nana Moskouri's drippy and sentimental "Mama Leone" has sweet orchestration, with lead singer Milan Fras' stern growl delivering each line in an incongruous, maudlin style (AMG)'
However, I believe Herr Mohr is correct as Moskouri's version has different writing credits. So, AMG is wrong. However, Moskouri's version is French & carries a writing credit that is also shared by other artists covering that song Renate Vaplus...so I believe that Moskouri's is a French language version of the original.

Looks like a dressed-in-black blast, Dom. I've watched that particular scene from Wicker Man frame by frame many times. I appreciate the Batfish Boys inclusion. Still pissed off 'bout catching a Simon-less March Violets back in '85.
