Comment:

The recent terrible mining tragedies in the United States and Mexico led me to put together this tribute to miners, who continue to be mistreated and placed in harm's way for the sake of corporate profit. The Jean Ritchie song (also covered by Margaret Lyle Gravitt on this CD) is remarkably beautiful and haunting. Many of the other songs are powerful as well, including Sarah Gunning's raw autobiographical song and Steeleye Span's song about scabs.
