Comment:
There's no long boring story behind this mix, which is one of the reasons I gave it such a pedestrian title. Instead, let's talk about how neurotic I get about every single last aspect of creating a mix tape, down to the kind of cassette I want to use. I tortured myself for twenty minutes trying to decide if this mix would feel more at home on a 100-minute Sony CdIt with the old-school slimcase, or a TDK SA-X Limited Edition with gold leaf lettering on only the A side. I mean, it's not like I can't get more tapes, and it's not like these things are collector's items; I've yet to see a brick of unopened Teac cassettes with the open-reel design show up on eBay, or a fansite dedicated to cassette shell designs of the past twenty years. However, I think presentation is sometimes as important as content, but then again, I'm a geek and a weirdo. Also, does anyone else think that Sony audio tapes sound a little flat?
Feedback:
I'm so-so with Sony (though their Metal tapes are O.K.) A really great Metal tape is Radio Shack--very pleased with the quality there. But the default is TDK Metal or SA-X (which you can painlessly get @ a decent price from TDK.com. I was gonna' bring up M-A-X-E-L-L but know how you despise that piece of celluloid....so I won't even mention Maxell.
