Comment:

A mix celebrating the rush of a rousing chorus! Gospel-tinged voices make most of these selections memorable and moving. I admit to a soft spot for sweet 60s and 70s soul, and I had to include Meatloaf's first hit (from 1971), cheesy as it may be.
Click the Foreigner tune for a link to the entire 40MB file of MP3s and MP4s (may be incompatible for some) -- my first attempt at the download thing!

Unusual collection of songs to put together together, and it look like it works. And Black Pearl, whoa...

Nice effort on your part Steve, and good to see you posting this and the last one after an absence of several months.Like your picks, but then I've used almost half of these songs on previous mixes of mine; mostly in the '69 (tracks 2 & 7) and '70 (tracks 6 & 9) period. I also used the Time Warp song (from 1978) on my Time themed mix. One song I haven't used that I really like is the one by Melanie (I've used three Melanie songs on my mixes, but not that one).I was thinking of '73 as the year of my next mix, but you may have inspired me to change my mind, using '70 and that Melanie song for my next mix (like you inspired my Heart & Soul of '74 mix back on 10/8/05).Oh, one last thing, four of the songs you included on your zip file were in m4p format which I can't play, but fortunately I was able to find mp3 versions and was able to enjoy your mix in its entirety.
Oh, and I like Lee Michaels a lot too. Thanks for the download!

It appears you have returned; and me without a fatted calf... Nonetheless, you have chosen a rousing re-entry, a bravura display of upbeat joy. I share Joe's views on Melanie. I must assume the inclusion of the Foreigner, Meatloaf , Brotherhood Of Man and Rocky Horror tunes is a personal re-affirmation of something indefinable; and yet they just may work in this context. I'm undecided, yet hopeful; and that's something to be going on with. Welcome back.

The Stoney and Meatloaf is actually extremely interesting. It's a good Melanie selection. I can remember seeing her sing it new on American Bandstand and for some reason, found it disturbing. But not nearly as much as Foreigner. Yet, you do have something going here and it certainly is brave, and for that, how could you not earn nice marks? Well done.

unfortunately, I'm still waiting to find out what love is, since that track was locked and I needed some money to hear it on my i-tunes. but most of these songs played just fine and it's a real nice mix. especially like the Edwin Hawkins Singers.

Thanks for comments, all! Sorry that several cuts are MP4 files that don't open for everyone (those devious iTunes folk are to blame).

Love these cheesy (and not so cheesy) chants - and your choice of title colour - that must be font color=cheddar? Great stuff.
