Comment:

An offshoot from another mix I was working on. I tried slipping that ridiculously catchy Boris & the Saltlicks song on the other mix, in spite of the fact that it had absolutely no business on there according to the (rather vague) parameters I had set for myself - making it segue wasn't a problem, but it messed with the mood of the rest of the mix, so it had to go. I felt bad about kicking it, though, so I built this modest little home for it. The general plan was to make a more straightforward indie kind of stuff mix once again, since it's been a while, but mostly to just swing myself from one track to the next quite sponataneously (with the occasional interruption in order to write a sentence or two for the methodology section of the term paper I was supposedly writing while compiling this mix - miraculously, I got it finished in the end). I'm not sure what exactly I was thinking when I decided to put Taku Sugimoto on there (something to do with the challenge of trying to get the mix off the ground again, perhaps?), but I'm actually very fond of that part, very soothing. Also, if I had decided to kick it, I would have felt compelled to make a new mix featuring that track and who knows where that would have led to...

I am familiar with some, semi-familiar with others. But, I am going to go out on a limb...and say, this is typically awesome. I must report back when I have become familiarized

Nice one, and a great story of the genesis of the mix!

ofthaltned, your profs would be glad to see that your grad school training to "always document your methodology" is carrying over to your mix postings.

Don't know any of the songs, although I have reason to believe that the Walkabouts sound something like Element of Crime, except in English. Anyway, it looks intriguing.

Yes yes yes, great 14-19 stretch, and I love that Spinvis tune too.

I love the opener and I have a bad habit of trying to "force" a song into a mix so I can relate to your story.

Actually, I don't think there's anything MORE beautiful than a Straight Line. Apart from maybe Milla Jovovich in the Fifth Element. (Sighs..) Anyway, this mix is as beautiful as anything you've submitted here. Wonderful :)

I like straight lines just fine, Sammy, but one thing that I think is even more beautiful are arbitrary statements that are completely untenable, yet make a claim to absoluteness. Also, I like random song lyrics that just sound good, and I like using them as mix titles, too. This one's from the aforementioned Boris & the Saltlicks song and I thought it just had "mix title" written all over it.
