Comment:

Originally, I wanted to call this mix "Cactus Dances to the Radio" (after the William Parker track), but that would have been rather inappropriate for the second half of this mix, which is, um, not very danceable, not even by my standards (in the sense that none of my mixes are ever danceable - my fear of continuous beats gets in the way of that). So I was going to name it "I Hope Your Dreams Are As Dark As Your Guinness" (after the Mike Seed song) instead, except that title wouldn't have fit the first half, which is not very dark, at least not by my standards. So, as a compromise, I named it after the Robert Wyatt track instead. Appropriately enough, I have no idea whether I'd consider that one part of the first or of the second half.

Whoo! This looks just great. Love that William Parker track, and "Sea Song" of course, of course and, uhm, the Randy Newman sandwich looks mighty tasty. Never thought I'd find myself hungry for a Randy Newman sandwich, but, there it is. Can't wait to give this a listen.

Wow, I'm with Curtis 100% here, including the "ambivalent about the Randy Newman sandwich" feeling.

I'm not even done listening to this just yet, but I think I can say already that you have really outdone yourself this time. I think this might be even a better than "Uselessness"!

Also, I have tried to figure out the "Randy Newman sandwhich" comment, but I just don't get it. Anyone care to enlighten me?

It means that Curtis and Rob are cannibals.

No, I think what Curtis was saying is he's not usually very fond of Newman, but looking forward to hear that song preceded by the John Cage track and followed up by Gary Higgins.

(also: wow, thanks!)

all this talk about sandwiches is making me hungry too. loved the Baby Dee track, and the following transition into Gy÷rgi Ligeti. was that Činna playing at 51:00? (here I go again.) 'twas sublime, whatever it was. nice work.
