Comment:

Ah, the many faces of procrastination! I dug this one up and just had to amend and post it! Really great stuff on this one from five years ago (!). I find that these mixed genre mixes wear very well for me. For those of you who have yet to get to Peter Case, he's really good, this record is extra good, and his stuff goes out of print somewhat rapidly. This version of "Crossroads" is the only Jonell thing I've been able to find, but she tears it up (and in a crummy movie, too). D. Alvin, ... isn't it time someone did a tribute record to him? A classic song. A Leiber/Stoller fave and then some serious fun funk from Ron Levy. I can't quite figure out where the title comes from ... Love X, always. One of my favorite Airplane songs which I have never understood ... but the instrumental track used to be the theme music for track and field events on CBS in the '70s. I could blab on ... but you get it. I like this music. You should too. Title from the refrain on the Harold Melvin tune (regarded as the first disco hit!) ... Cheers.

This is cool. I definitely prefer a good mixed-genre effort over any kind of theme mix...

Almost missed this...and that would have stunk, as this is of the highest order. 5 - 12 is genius in it's sequencing. Awesome.

That 11-14 run is stellar. Great Alvin, Airplane and Etta tracks too.
