Comment:

Part 1 of a 2 part series put together for Blasikin. There are a few 'cheats' in here, but mostly it is pretty chilled African vibes picked up while travelling 'there' with work or via compilations . . . . I certainly don't claim to be an expert . . .Thanks to Musicgnome for the nod on Demon Fuzz . . .

Very well done, sir. Nothing like a mix from the musical motherland.

I have a cut from Tony Allen's latest album ready to roll on a new mix. Good move for him leaving Fela Kuti in a squabble over royalties. And I love the looks of this mix. It will be in my walkman today.

I always need one of these whenever the thermometer starts to rise. Especially digging Tony Allen and Demon Fuzz.

Man, thanks so much. There are some amazing cuts on here that are a revelation to me. I love the grounation- I've never heard it with the ska horns before, so cool. Moussa Doumbia, and the African Disco are also wonderful, as is the rest.

Very nice selections. Glad to see more African music represented. You might change the category to World (which is where I search for mixes like this). Can't wait to listen to this.

don't know how or why it took me so long to get 'round to this one, but enjoyed it all the same. favorites are the Count Ossie & the MRR, Tony Allen, Lady Smith Black Mambaza (if that was the one playing at the 39:00 mark), Mallinga Five w/ D'Allan Shelley... and especially the Honey and the Bees Band's "Psychedelic Woman!" also enjoyed what was playing at the 34:30 mark, but not sure which that was. thanks for sharing all this great music.
