I like cheese. Good, real cheese, not the processed stuff that is made out of oil, but good ol' clog your arteries cheese. Mmmmmm.... behold the power of cheese...Ok, I am sure that Mr. D has ALL manner of detractors, and my choosing a substantial number of his top 40 sele ctions will earn my well-earned stripes, and I won't shrug them off... he is the ultimate in Guility Pleasures.I mean, come on, a paean written around JFK's daughter gets co-opeted by the BoSox!!! Yah freakin' hoo!!I did try to break them into groups, silly, then girl songs to tears in the beaugolais/singer-songwriter weepy shit and the real reason I love this guy, pseudo-gospel! The closer is my all time fave of his, heard rarely if ever, and that would be the D man backed with a huge orchestra...

I'll profess my love for "Cherry, Cherry" any day of the week...
And I'll profess my love for Neil Diamond, who is a fantastic songwriter and top-notch entertainer. I saw him live for the first time in December and he was electrifying. Amazing stage presence.
It's a good thing you included "Sweet Caroline," says one Mass-bred BoSox fan. Seriously, Diamond is a good choice for the tribute mix.
Hard to believe the guy who made Cherry, Cherry turned into the guy who sang duets with Barbara Streisand and wore rhinestone Elvis-y costumes. The early years really were the best.
I turn into a 10 year old boy watching the rain fall on a country road every time I hear Song Sung Blue.
