Comment:
The old thing has life in it yet! eh, so, i sure am glad that AOTM will not harm my computer any more, um, except now i can't use html, what what??.... so this is all gonna be in one long paragraph. damn. //////////// here we have a long-planned mix inspired by the compilations assembled by Mr. Fripp himself, Sometimes God Hides and Sometimes God Smiles (i can't put up links to them apparently right now because AOTM is being ridiculously cautious, but you can google them easily) - label samplers, but he did manage to include a fair fraction of the King Crimson family in them. I tried to also rope in players from the early days of the band whose current careers have little to do with that of the Crimson master (and many of whom managed to glean large commercial followings after departing from KC). not all of these are rock/pop (Eyes On The Horizon is probably better classed as jazz, and the free-improv I Soon Learned To Know This Flower Better might be one of the least pop things you have ever heard), but I would say this mix still lives in a rock-based world. //////////// The following are the King Crimson members/alums who have contributed to this mix: //////////// Adrian Belew (tracks 3, 15, 17): vocals, guitar and drums, 1981-present ////// Bill Bruford (track 6): drums and percussion, 1972-1997 ////// Mel Collins (track 10): flute and sax 1970-1972, 1974 ////// Robert Fripp (tracks 4, 11, 14, 17): guitar, Mellotron and philosophy, 1969-present ////// Michael Giles (track 13): drums and backing vocals, 1969-1970 ////// Peter Giles (track 10): bass, 1970 ////// Trey Gunn (tracks 8, 17): touch guitar and Chapman Stick (i would have put up links to those, i swear), 1994-2003 ////// Greg Lake (track 5): vocals and bass, 1969-1970 ////// Tony Levin (tracks 2, 12, 14, plus track 11, although he had not yet been in King Crimson!): bass, Chapman Stick and backing vocals, 1981-1999, 2003-present ////// Pat Mastelotto (tracks 12, 14, 17): drums, 1994-present ////// Ian McDonald (tracks 1, 10, 13): sax, flute, Mellotron, multi-instruments, backing vocals, 1969, 1974 ////// Jamie Muir (track 16): percussion, 1972-1973 ////// Ian Wallace (tracks 9, 10): drums, 1971-1972 ////// John Wetton (track 7): bass and vocals, 1972-1974 //////////// Enjoy! um, you are not going to see mp3s of this mix posted any time soon, because I rather disbelieve in such things, but could anyone maybe tell me a site where I could actually upload the full lossless files? *then* i think i could finally in good faith start offering these mixes for download. thanks! ~~~abangaku the ever-returning:::
Feedback:
Great one, you should be able to upload the lossless files anywhere, just individually would be the drag.
