Comment:

America: Perhaps a common theme these days. Certainly it is a difficult subject for me. I am somewhat unsure how I feel about this country-- a country of much wealth and power, but a country in which many are poor and helpless. I do not believe in unbridled, unquestioning patriotism. If we do not question what is, we are not taking full advantage of our democracy.

This mix is for my good friend ji. While our politics may diverge on a number of issues, I think we both can agree that this land, however beautiful and bountiful, is rife with contradiction. Black and white it is not... I hope that I have touched on this contradiction in this mix. (Pardon the borrowed image. It was too good not to use. Thank you whoever you are.)

See, I was all about putting some Springsteen in there, but ... well two reasons: 1)It seemed kinda obvious (like John Cougar wasn't?); 2) Ran out of room :S Okay, so they're weak excuses. Forgive me!!

I should have mentioned this earlier, but the Son Volt song is a Springsteen cover from his album Nebraska. So there! :D
