The most coherent argument I can make that the Prefab Four were no joke. Far from it -- the cream of pop songwriting talent was at their disposal, and when they took control circa 'Headquarters' they were pretty damn good themselves. This is the definitive 90 minutes, all the hits and lotsa great lesser known tracks mixed in. I defy you not to smile.

These guys are criminally underrated, I'd agree wholeheartedly. Mike Nesmith was a minor genius. :-)

It's nice to see the Monkees getting their due! "Randy Scouse Git" is one of the greatest of all time. And the fact that "Shades of Gray" is nowhere in sight proves that Eric knows what he is doing.

Wow. Only one track each from "Instant Replay" and "Birds, Bees..." Apparently these aren't well-respected Monkees albums? They're actually two of my faves. Rob and I have already talked a bit about this.
