Comment:

I have an exhaustive Devo collection. A friend of mine wanted "Turn Around" so I told him I'd burn it on a disc with some obscure Devo stuff. The tracks here are culled from a variety of sources, some of which are in print, some of which aren't: 1, 11-13, 20 + 27 from "Pioneers Who Got Scalped: The Anthology" (in print); 2-7 from "Hardcore Devo Volume 1" (out of print); 8 + 9 from "Hardcore Devo Volume 2" (out of print); 10, 14-16, 24 + 25 from "Recombo DNA" (ltd. ed. from rhinohandmade.com); 17 from UK twofer of "Oh No! It's Devo"/"Freedom Of Choice" (in print, I think); 18 + 19 from expanded "Dev-o Live" (ltd. ed. from rhinohandmade.com); 21 from Infinite Zero reissue of "New Traditionalists" (out of print); 22 + 23 from Infinite Zero reissue of "Oh No! It's Devo" (out of print); 26 from "Chef Aid: The South Park Album" (in print). This doesn't include the brilliant bonus tracks from the IZ reissue of "Duty Now For The Future," since I'll be copying the whole disc for him. And if I'd had my druthers, I probably would have included the Booji Boy single "Jocko Homo" b/w "Mongoloid," the basement version of "Satisfaction," the "Gates Of Steel" demo, "Doctor Detroit," "Growing Pains" and maybe a couple more basement tapes. But this is more than enough obscure Devo for a guy who only owns three of their albums, one of which is still on cassette. We must repeat.

Great fucking stuff! Man, I haven't heard some of these in a long time. As much as i love "Smart partol/Mr DNA" from the album it is so much cooler live. And "It Takes A Worried Man" might be my fave Devo obscurity along with the oringnal version of "Secret Agent Man" from the movie. Great cover too!

Dale, I can't find that basement version of "Secret Agent Man" anywhere...but it sure kicks the crap out of the studio version. Let me know if you can find it.

I have an energy dome, a yellow Tyvex suit and two other Devo costumes I actually made. Yeah, I'm a little obsessed with these guys.

Nope...but I was sitting there for the duration of that film thinking how much the Keymaker concept reminded me of the Keymaster from "Ghostbusters" (from whence I take my moniker).

I just made a new mix of "It Takes A Worried Man" that reinstates Booji Boy's monologue from the film. I'll have to redo this disc.
