Comment:
This is somewhat of a concept mix. The Idea was that these songs were arranged by a DJ and perhaps played as well. Although, not necessarily a DJ in a club rather a DJ on underground radio. Actually, I am SO grateful to college radio, for years introducing me to so much great music old and new. Several of these songs I first heard on the local college station KWCW in Walla Walla. Carlos De, bass player of Interpol as picturesque as he is, simply serves as a figurehead in the iconographic role of 'DJ' (thus "DON'T HANG THIS DJ!"). The title `I Hung Around In Your Soundtrack' obviously a line from the Joy Division song "Warsaw" implies exactly what it states. You see, I think I am reasonably open to a wide variety of music. So I really enjoy listening to diverse persons tastes, like the DJs on college radio and friends, acquaintances, strangers, anyone who is passionate about the music they listen to! Example: Robert Smith of the Cure is responsible for me listening to Stranglers, Raincoats, Bowie, Cocteau Twins etc. etc. Various friends and acquaintances are responsible for my great interest in music ranging from the Cure to composer Arvo Part. Essentially, if I hadn't stepped into the soundtrack of their lives I might not be listening to this music today. Influence isn't always such a nasty word is it? **Hear this mix in its entirety at this link:

What a cool concept, and an even cooler "soundtrack" to go with it, as it were. And I haven't listened to that OMD song in so long, I should go dig it up now...oh, and the Lightning Seeds, yay!

Viva la College Radio !...grew up on
W-BRU outta' Providence, RI (which eventually went
commercial)...but oh what great experimental rock segues they ran...playing
snippets of tunes and then rolling into something different...many of which I rolled
into later rock/tech mixes, then dove off the path into experimental ambient & microsound...
this looks/sounds very cool !
