Three years ago in Petaluma CA, about an hour north of San Francisco, I spent a great Christmas week with my wife and the in-laws listening to music, eating, and watching football. The rain just kept on coming down. For the trip there this year I wanted some nice tunes to go along with the wake-up, the morning coffee, and the expected rain. It did not rain so much this time, but it was still cozy drinking the good coffee and sitting around in my ancient house-clothes, basically doing nothing.

I almost used the Rampal/Bolling Suite for Flute and Piano, and also almost used a track from the Moody Blues' Question of Balance. But the former was overly familiar (I thought), and my wife convinced me that the latter had an overly 70's feel. So I left them off. If you haven't heard the Beatles Anthology 3 in a while, the demo of She Came in Through the Bathroom Window has a nice, dreamy quality about it, prior to the infusion of all the energy that resulted in the released track.

Enjoy the mix!

What a wonderful mix... and as a former Sonoma County resident, I have to commend you on a fitting tribute to Petaluma (the self-styled "Egg Capital" of California, BTW...)

Very cool. Next to this most mixes don't amount to a hill of beans...Love the Kellaway through O'Connell opening of disc 2 especially.

Eno, Etta James, Eva Cassidy, Vivaldi... too many favorites here to mention them all. Wonderful cover too.

This one perks me up, haven't even thought of 'Mandolin Wind' in an age, I'm off to dust the vinyl down right now.

Amazing mix. I don't really care for Coldplay but that track looks like it would fit perfectly in there.

A very pleasing, eclectic mix. Love the mixing and mingling of folk, classical, blues and jazz.

Very cool stuff, Steve. Like Frenchy, I had Mandolin Wind in a recess of vinyl musical memory. Talk soon.

This looks quite beautiful, Steve. Lots of great tracks and I love the way it wanders from style to style. I could very easily sit around and 'basically do nothing' to this.

Sorry I'm a little late in getting to this gem - looks really wonderful (and I like the liner notes!) Love the look of the 2nd CD especially, but Buckley -> Simon and Garfunkel is divine.

Any mix that goes from Eno to "Cry Baby Cry" to Elton John to Gilberto Gil is OK by me. Nice.

Steve - thanks for this.I'm back in the UK supposedly packing more stuff to take back to Dubai, but I've spent my entire Sunday morning chilling to this. When John Coltrane comes in on track 4 it blew my mind (and my 4 year old son went straight over and maxed out the volume control!!).Loving every minute!

I have just discovered this mix. I feel like an explorer who has stumbled upon a great treasure. And yet it's just out of reach...If you are able to trade (though I fear I have nothing much to offer) I would be most grateful. In fact I'll be as happy as happy man that recently became even more happy.
