Comment:
Fuzzed-out and funked-up Chicago area artists of the 60's & 70's. Based on the semi-regular Chicago Reader comic of the same name by Mr. Plastic Crimewave. Thanks to Valis for bringing the Lemondrops & P the Swede for providing plenty of Terry Callier to choose from.
Feedback:
Looking forward to this. The .ace file makes me think of the Chicago Aces, which is part of the secret history of Chicago sports of the same decade.
wonderful, love to hear it
Man, this is unstoppable, too much musical genius to bear. Thanks for the upload, can't wait...
Damn straight, it's more than the blues!
This is one fantastic history lesson, stranger (was it something I said?). I'd love Love LOVE a copy of this, if you'd care to pass it along.
Just f'n incredible...this stuff and the means in the way you presented it, here, is just fantastic. 5 1/2 stars for this here. Is there a Volume II coming? Is there anything I could provide to help in this regards?
That HP Lovecraft pick is amazing.Actually, it all looks pretty cool. Nice one Cyril, let's have another one!
Way cool indeed.
Great mix and a wonderful listen.
You had me at Baby Huey.
That Rasputin's Stash record is killer.
Impressive collection, soul mate. This is my kind of town.
Wow, this is sweet.
Mr. Plastic shows the way, again. The man is undervalued outside his niche! lo-fi, this one's a keeper and throws a spotlight on some truly unknown artists who have a catalog which should be studied alongside others deemed more worthy. The Lemondrops knock my socks off. Another "shoulda' been" story.
SALUTE!
SALUTE!
Just given this a listen this evening. Thanks for the link. Most of these artists/tracks are new to me but I had a feeling I was gonna like it. Damn Right! Love 2,3,8,11,15 & 18 especially. Great stuff!
Fantasic Lo-fi. This is my favorite mix you have posted since I joined the site. Well done.
Fuzzy and funky. Love it.
Great stuff. I grew up loving the New Colony Six and The Shadows of Knight.
Chicago has more going for it than the coastal contingent suspects. (And more than I knew: I knew JB Hutto was a Chicago boy, but I always thought HP Lovecraft came out of the swamps of Cthulhuu . . . )
actually, I really love to hear this
