Comment:
I think there was a commercial release along similar lines to this, but these were mostly taped off the radio during the great KALX/KFJC competition for world's longest on-air "Louie Louie"marathon, & many of these performances are from bands that were formed during the marathons purely
in order to record Louie Louie & get on the air before it was over. I forget which station finally won, but it was great while it lasted.
Feedback:
louie louie, what a song eh? i've never heard the kinks version!! could be interesting...
They should have played the Robert Plant version from the Wayne's World 2 soundtrack.
LET'S GIVE IT 'EM RIGHT NOW! After seeing this mix, I feel obliged to point you and others to the fine site by a swell Flamin' Groovies lovin' pal,Eric Predoehl. He is in the process of creating a great documentary on the song "Louie, Louie". In the meantime he has created a web site that is filled with all the facts and excellent discography. www.louielouie.net
didn't the west coast pop art experimental band cover this song as well?
sure, west coast pop art & many many others -- it would be a shorter list to try to identify the bands that havent' covered it . . .
Actually, the name of our version of "Louie, Louie" is "Louis, Louis" and is available at our website (www.std.org/strubin/ccc) Thanks!
This excellent mix has been included in "Never Too Much of a Good Thing" - opening today at the AoTM Exhibitions page.
I always thought that either the Kingsmen or Motorhead was the definitive version, but now I've seen this and seen how little I know I am not so sure. What do you reckon?
How in the world did you find the Tulsa City Trucker version? The only recording that I am aware of came from a live radio show on WCBN in Ann Arbor.
I'm surprised this doesn't have the Beach Boys version (It is, however, a rather weak track from them).
Wow, not many double-ups...and you have exactly 23 versions, too! Eerie...
