It feels strange to be making an optimistic political mix -- & I do know all the arguments for cynicism, believe me -- but for us here in the States, this might just be our only chance in this …

Comment:

At the instigation of buglady, I've rounded up a bunch of insect songs -- & I've got to say I'm astounded how many of them turned up. The preponderance of roach songs probably says something about what kind
of insects musicians are most familiar with - but you don't want to look to this CD for accurate entomology. Slim Harpo doesn't even have his basic birds-&-bees facts straight, & Bobby Gentry seems to count tadpoles as a kind of bug. A few curiosity items, but surprisingly all these tracks are fun to listen to. (By the way, all the ones titled "The Bug" or "Bugs" are completely different songs.)

nice mix but you missed a few. Pearl Jam's "bugs", Blur's "Bugman" and eels' "flyswatter". and Dire straights' "The Bug" as well.

You'll need to make a sequel including the Flaming Lips' '"Buggin'", The Cure's "Lullaby", and of course "The Fly" by U2

Jesus. Given the constraints of the theme, this looks like it actually works really damn well. I love it when that happens.

This looks great! It figures that this mix would come from a huge fan of the beetles..I mean Beatles. Of course I feel the need to suggest other possibilities: Altered Images' "Insects", Wire's "I am the Fly", the Cramps "Human Fly" and Echo & the Bunnymen's "Bedbugs abd Ballyhoo."

All you need is bug! This is amazing! Gotta love the cover art, too. There's a music publisher called "Bug Music" (Leo Kottke, T. Bone Burnett, and many, many, many more).
