First mix in well over a year. Dipping my toes back into the AotM water. Since I never know what's happening with the artwork at AotM, here's the cover art.

Here's a collection of songs directly or indirectly about Captain Beefheart's love of small miniature cakes. The exception, of course, is Ann Margaret's 1966 hit "13 Men", which is actually about …

Comment:

No, this isn't a theme mix about one of the weirdest tragedies ever. It's just a regular disjointed mix. But the title has bounced around my head for years. Ever since I first read about the Molasses Flood I've thought it would make a good name for a bubblegum band ala 1910 Fruitgum Company. Since I don't think I'm going to get around to forming a bubblegum band I might as well use it for a mix title.
The short version of the story: On a January afternoon in 1919, 2,320,000 gallons of mollasses flooded the streets of Boston. Cars were overturned, buildings were crushed, and 21 were killed.

I love mixes that give me a lot of variety. Whenever I see Jimmy Dean, Lavern Baker, Alice Cooper, the Jam, the Dillards, etc. etc., in one mix, I know it's going to be fun. Nice job.

I remember reading about this disaster in my favorite forgotten zine Murder Can Be Fun. Always good to see some Alice rarities & interesting to see that Joe Jackson & Chris Stamey are still rocking.

Sweet mix indeed! Like the Jam pick, and the ending made me smile...
