Comment:
Proving that you can find humor in any topic, these songs all find some amount of amusement in Naziism. Maybe it was Hitler’s idiosyncrasies or the Nazis’ pompous arrogance that has allowed so many artists to have a laugh despite the horror. Not all of these songs are “funny ha ha” but there’s always some irony in choosing a Nazi theme, particularly in a love song.So what punchline would you provide for the question asked in the title?
Feedback:
stupid and genius mix in both ways
I dunno WHY.. but I know HOW... IN NICE LIL' ORDERED ROWS... Cool concept. Nice job.
impressive
A great idea for a mix, Todd. I love the producer's excerpt too! I'd love to hear this, my friend, when you're ready for another trade just mail me, ok?
To invade a neighboring country.
To provide footage for Triumph der Netzhautstangen (Triumph of the Retinal Rods), Leni Reifenstahl's documentary glorifying Aryan supremacy in color differentiation. The film contains rather disturbing scenes of "lesser peoples" crossing into traffic as the tragic result of red-green color blindness.
Great mix as always, Todd.
Great mix as always, Todd.
To impose his/her will on the unwashed... oh, yeah, that did happen... and then there was that whole "genocide" thing.... Re: the quality of this mix, I second everything said below and reiterate what I've said on pretty much *all* of your mixes. So when we trade next, I'll want this, for sure.
Wow. And then brilliant and then ... depressing? Well, stunning at least.
Drang Nach Osten..., it was ever thus.
Very nice work on this! Good idea and great songs.
Aussehen gut!
"It's all so calculated, he's got a calculator."
...and the punchline..?
Um das Land auf der anderen Seite zu erobern!

Gott in Himmel!!!
Wow. You keep posting the most amazing theme mixes.
There's a song by Chumbawamba called "The Day the Nazi Died" it's great you should hear it.
To get knocked over. With any luck.
Interesting mix.
Interesting mix.
Because he was just following orders.
Again excellent stuff!
How do you make a Nazi cross? Tread on his toes!
A lovely, unsettling mix that I don't think I would have had the stomach (well, or the record collection) to put together myself.

Yet another unlikely theme carried off with panache. Marvellous. (Missing in action, though: The Fall's "Who Makes The Nazis" & MDC's "John Wayne was A Nazi")
what, no Skrewdriver?
This mix is a stunner! And why did the Nazi cross the road? To get from the left to the right.
Another extremely unlikely but fascinating study in pop music history! There are some great tunes here, "Springtime for Hitler is an all-time classic. Have you ever heard "Charlie & his Orchestra" ? (a Nazi effort to set propaganda messages to the tune of 40's pop tunes, to be broadcast to England I guess- I have some of them somewhere on the shelves here if you'd be interested - )
then there's serge gainsbourg's 'rock around the bunker' a whole album of nazi songs! and henry mancini, i think, did a loungey 'springtime.' sorry i've never come across your mixes before, they are the bee's knees
