Comment:
So yeah... Mr. Casetta sent me twelve songs two months ago and asked me to shape them, along with twelve of my own choices, into a coherent mix. I immediately detected a "story of a rock and roll band"/"Behind the Music" (TM) kind of theme and ran with it. (Ya know, on second thought, I should have said that this disc was the story of Badfinger, as it fits so well.) So here it is: the archetypal history of rock and roll from AotM's reigning figureheads of "pretension". ;-) For those that are curious, the credits for the tracks read as follows: 1, 3, 5, 8, 11, 13, 15, 16, 18, 20, 22, and 24 (CASETTA); 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21 and 23 (Conroy). Title and cover by CASETTA. Thanks to Sean Lally for co-authoring "The Beginning of the End of the Fun Years".
Feedback:
Great job flushing out the storyline. I forgot some of the songs I sent you.
"Paint a Vulgar Picture" is the best Smiths song. Ever. Well, and "Ask," too.
how could this be anything other than fantastic? you! two! much! who do i hit up for a copy?
good god, this looks smashing fantastic, you two together make the rest of feel lousy or is it just a wonderful mix, great job
Heard it (fast forwarded) last night. Great concept and great selection of tunes, though clearly I would have gone for "Moneygoround" by the Kinks. As for "Moulty", what a guilty pleasure that ridiculous song is. And Club Mekon - my undying love/lust for Sally Timms is well documented. Let us all give thanks to Rob and Tom for giving us the rock.
hehe...great "story" & mix. i'm impressed.
Nice collaboration kids. I would love to raid both of your record collections sometime. Just one question regarding the cover. Which one is Tom and which one is Rob?
This is Waffle-ly good... the alternating thing seems to be a good thing...
"Waffle-ly good" -- that's funny.
Really nice job! Good concept, excellent execution. =)
Hey Sean. Sally Timms, eh? I'm with you. There's just something about those long-chinned girls.
Okay, maybe I should say long-chinned women, after all she is old enough to be my, uh, much older sister (I guess I'm not that young anymore). Anyway, unrelated to that: fine mix fellas.
Havent heard a lot of this, but i just posted a mix like this called "Down On the Corner" I notice you saying you had a similar mix on popculture's. So I thought that I would check it out.
