- Book Notes - John Reimringer ("Vestments")
- . This version is on a 78, recorded in 1937, around the time the Lexington was founded and James' grandparents fell in love, a romance that, like many, has faltered with the best of intentions. The Lex, meanwhile, is an old haunt of generations of Dresslers and Reimringers, as well as innumerable Saint Paul priests and politicians. 6. - ... And I Couldn't Even Talk To You
- song in the sense that it keeps my feet on the ground. You sit and write these songs, yet you try to talk to your own son and daughter and maybe you're totally inadequate, trying to explain life to a child." --John Fogerty, 1997 Mavis Staples and Jeff Tweedy take a playful spin through the Fogerty songbook, that glorious intersection of country, soul, rock 'n' roll, and gospel. If anyone asks, this is American music. Dedicated with love to my daughter, Leilani. ...

- John Fogerty - Deja Vu All Over Again (from Ink19)
- The thing that struck me when I first heard the opening track to Fogerty's seventh solo album is that he seems to have made one of those Dick Clark deals with the devil. The guy still sounds remarkably like he did fronting Creedence Clearwater Revival so many years ago. The song is a terrific anti-war anthem, equating Iraq with Vietnam, with a great "Have You Ever Seen the Rain"-style hook. Unfortunately, the rest of the album fails to measure up to that promising beginning.Instead of more subst......

With a chorus that includes the line, "Maybe this time we'll build a go-kart and drive around the world", the simple, straight-forward, guitar-centric nostalgia trip has all the complexity of a John Fogerty track (plus quadruple the rocking-ness) and the absolute simplicity and sheer child-like energy to make it a true emotional trip down Memory Lane. Pete Yorn will hit stores September 28th via Vagrant Records. Stay tuned for more news, including fall tour dates, as they ...

- Coulda' Been a Hit
- Shuffling the Ipod today I came across a John Fogerty song called Walking in a Hurricane off of his Blue Moon Swamp album and every time I hear that song I think the same thought: Why wasn't this a hit? It has a catchy chorus, some nice guitar, sung well, but it got no traction on the charts at all. The factors that prevented it from being a hit are pretty obvious, new songs by classic artists aren't often hits, rock wasn't that big at the time the song was released, Fogerty wasn't ever ...

- John Fogerty - John Fogerty - Déjà Vu All Over Again (from Uncut)
- Considering John Fogerty's remarkable songs of conscience leading Creedence Clearwater Revival, not to mention his slot on the US Vote For Change tour, you might expect his first album of new songs in seven years to be a restless, politically charged affair. Not so: the title song successfully and wistfully—with echoes of "Who'll Stop The Rain?"—refracts the Iraq war through the prism of Vietnam's tragedy. Disappointingly, though, much of the rest of Déjà Vu... consists of musical dead-en......

- John Fogerty - John Fogerty - Revival (from Uncut)
- The astonishing run of 10 top 40 hits Fogerty masterminded for Creedence Clearwater Revival between 1969 1970 cast a daunting shadow over every move he has made since. Even on solo reawakenings (1984's Centrefield, 97's Blue Swamp Moon) unfinished business with old band and his old record company loomed large. Now, after years of court actions, Fogerty says its "surreal" to be back on the Creedence Fantasy label, cause of so much legal pain. And indeed there's something surreal - and inspira......
