What follows is a list of really really difficult mixed tapes/cds that I'd like to see made - if it is even possible. Email webmaster@artofthemix.org if (1) you have a mix to add to the list or (2) if you have actually made the mix. Maybe, down the line, there could be prizes awarded for those who actually make these mixes.
- Continuity of Covers - I recently traded mixes with a fellow named Patrick, who made some great cover mixes. One mix had a moment with the The Jesus and Mary Chain covering the Beach Boys. The next song is the Pixies covering The Jesus and Mary Chain. Could one sustain this kind of pattern - covers of covers, ad infinitum? How long could you go? 10 songs? 45 minutes? 90 minutes?
And the challenge has been met by Paul Kehler! Check it out:
Here is a possible configuration for the Utlimate linked cover album. I have not made it but I believe all the recordings are available. If you notice I also make it circular, in other words you can go from the last song back up to the top.
