I first heard them in 1998. That "Space Lord" video looked like a rap video and in fact it still does. I didn't exactly get into them then. I was into Korn and stuff and even though Monster Magnet toured with Korn then I still didn't know much about them. About 2 years ago I got really into them when I heard more and more of their songs. I bought "Powertrip" and it blew me away. Great album. I got a t-shirt and stickers of theirs and I got 6 big stickers for like 2 bucks. Cool.

I was invited to a dinner with some friends, and one of the persons invited had a birthday. This same person also had a relative (brother, I think) who worked in the pit crew of one of the racers in the Daytona 500. So, the dinner was not only held on the birthday of the friend, but it was also the day of the Daytona 500 race. I whipped up this mix for her.

Made this for a friend I haven't seen in quite a while. I've just started getting interested in the Civil War, so the name is from Sherman's tactic that helped end the war. The best part of this mix is the Beck song which I had never heard before and stumbled upon while looking for the perfect song to end the mix. It's actually a cd, but I still like to follow the cassette format.

My best friend and I spent our last summer together before college, tearing up the greater Los Angeles Area. This was our soundtrack. A lot of these remind me of our inside jokes, or particular times we shared. Can't even count the number of times we sang with the choir of ex girlfriends on Carol Brown, or asked Ian Curtis who "They" were and why they keep calling him ( we have a strange sense of humor). We celebrated Charles Bukowski's birthday with whiskey and the Modest Mouse song, tangoed clumsily to Tom Waits, screamed bloody murder with Courtney Love and Hole. I will miss our music and our times together. Goodbye Los Angeles!

Anti-Nowhere League and Motorhead are pretty simliar bands. Both bands write music for outcasts with a badass "don't fuck with me" image. Both bands are from England. Both bands blurred the line between punk and metal. Both bands inspired Metallica. I like bands that are crass, dirty, loud, and understand.

So many bands with "the" in their name so I decided to name the mix, well, The Mix. this mix reminds me of superheroes for some reason. However, I was not a big fan of the "the bands" craze of the beginning of the last decade. The Hives and The Strokes didn't really impress me but my friend did show me a Strokes song and I was actually into it. who knows.

Power Metal should get more coverage in metal music magazines. It's like their are covered less often rather than more often. I'd rather know about new and up and coming power metal bands than black metal or deathcore bands. Decibal magazine is cool but they need to cover more power metal. Stratovarius is a cool freaking band. I love what the singer does and the music compliments it well. They remind me a lot of Iron Maiden. Now if they could only tour more often in the USA...

I had received a 2CD mix from a friend; the first CD was entitled "This Mix Thinks", the second CD was entitled "This Mix Thinks Not". The first thing that came to my mind was the old joke about Decartes walking into a bar being asked if he would like a drink. He replies "I think not" and disappears in a puff of smoke. Thus, Cogito Ergo Sum - I think, therefore I AM.

They used to roller skate in Central Park to disco music every summer. (They still might as far as I know.) If I had an hour on the decks, I'd mix it up 2010 style, with some surprise classics.

When I'm happy or in love I listen to the Beatles. I thought this was the only mix I would make by them but it didn't turn out like that. John is my favorite Beatle- he was a genius, innovator, and a true hell rasiser.
