Comment:
Everyone, and I mean everyone, who ever hears Paul Kelly immediately becomes a fan. That happened to me back in 1988 or 1989 when I read a local music writer's piece on his 10 favorite records of the year. One of the records was "Under the Sun" by Paul Kelly. One listen and I was hooked. 15 years later, and I'm still hooked. This list represents my personal "greatest hits" and a set to recommend to anyone who is curious about the best singer/songwriter you've never heard of.Feedback:
Paul Kelly is absolutely, completely and utterly amazing. This mix does him justice. I love that man.
One of Australia's hidden treasures - also Ed Kuepper, Simon Bonney (where'd he disappear to?)
I saw this a few days ago and forgot to comment on it. You are SO right about PK. My wife hipped me to him early in our relationship, and he's become a real fave. Every song here is a winner, though I'm really partial to 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 14, 18 and 21. He is really an amazing songwriter, and a super sweet guy. He's been to our town twice in the past few years, each time putting on a great, great show. Last year he had a wonderful band with him and they played a truly religious set. He did an interview at the hip radio station where my wife works and we had to drive him to the club, plus we hung out afterwards. Everything you could want in an artist - no pretense, and really funny. I'm thrilled to see a tribute to him here. Thanks.
How did I miss this when it was posted? Great picks and a great artist.
