It's all been said before: The '70s, pt. 8
Comment:
This is it--the absolutely, positively final volume of this series. Yes, several bands/artists (Genesis, Faust, Henry Cow, Squeeze, Graham Parker and oh so many more) are missing, but I'm happy enough with this. In the meantime, thanks to Jana (again) for the Betty Davis track and to lo-fi for both the Pop Group song and his suggestion that said song should be on this mix (although I opted *not* to follow his instructions to make it the series' closing track--sorry, man). Title from Rod Stewart.Feedback:
Stellar as usual, Rob. Wish I'd been cool enough in the 70s to have listened to this stuff, instead of being the only 1st grader in my school who listened to nothing but doo-wop and show tunes.
Very nice finale to a great series. I particularly like the Sid-to-Lou and Ringo-to-BOC transitions

Groundhogs, Alice Cooper, Pop Group, Pink Fairies...now you're talkin!
Nice. Lots of fine tracks here.
Another classic in the series!
I was wondering if Rod & Ringo were ever going to make an appearance. My favorite here is 'Dominoes' and the Pop Group pick.
Nice. I've enjoyed the trip down memory lane.
Still more artists that I can't believe it took 8 volumes to get to. Alice Cooper would've been on my first volume, but maybe that's cause he was the first concert I ever went to. You're welcome on the Pop Group suggestion. No problem on the placement as you've got an even better closer here.
Poptastic.
Excellent stuff! Nice series, too.
C'mon, can't you do just one more volume?;) More stuff from the seventies that doesn't suck. Happy to see my favorite Rod Stewart song (after Do Ya Think I'm Sexy) make the cut.
Smart. Track 15, my favourite.
Delightful picks. So what's going to be on Vol. 9?
Great stretch 5-9 & that's one of my fav Stranglers tracks.
I got some favs here too.
Great stuff. Always loved "Walk Away" (Joe Walsh was my first concert, back when I was 11 or 12 (when "Life's Been Good" came out). Still the loudest concert I've ever heard. Happy to get you some Mott if you need it... but I'd hate to cut "Carpet Crawlers," certainly the most beautiful tune of the glorious Gabriel era.
Hey Rob - I need to listen to Reaper again, but is there really a cow bell in it? Last night I saw the Saturday Night Live / Christopher Walken "More Cowbell!" skit on his my buddy's computer. Pretty funny.Like opokulcher, Joe Walsh was my fist concert too, but he was with the James Gang then. Hope you are doing well.
I am unable to find fault with this mix. And believe me I tried. Stupendous final track. Must rest now, been singing out of tune and really loudly. Joy, joy, unbounded joy.
Any mix with that Groundhogs track is bound to be killer.
Great job, Rob.
