Comment:

[July 2005] Given to my English Literature teacher when I left college. Nick; Dylan obsessed, really fucking intelligent, idealistic, tortured soul, wry sense of humour, bad (brilliant) jokes, not angry; just disappointed.

01. My favourite album opener (and fitting, I suppose). Lovely instrumental.
02. Talked about how great it was, thought I'd pop it in.
03. don't look back, like dylan in the movies. Duh.
04. i could've been a famous singer, if i had someone else's voice. I've always liked that line, kinda ties in Dylan-wise.
05. Again with the classical music liking. Seriously, this is freaking good.
06. English Literature/teacher related; you can lead your characters anywhere you want.
07. Dylan cover, sort of leads on from 'Storytelling' in the odd place that is my mind.
08. All for that snippet of and magical is art.
09. Self-explanatory, I think.
10. Hee. First year, read the book. (Plus, it's one of the best songs EVER).
11. Like with Dave, he can be a moody fella at times (only it's extremely rare and fucking scary).
12. Well, he has two young kids and I thought it was a lovely song in relation to that.
13. Albion, and it's connections to Romantic poetry (done in second year).
14. when the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up, she knows she's losing it. Lover of coffee, mildly eccentric in a way few seemed to understand.
15. I love the sheer enormity of the song and all the layers I can't explain. Fits with a lot of Eng Lit. discussion, and how overwhelming all this knowledge was.
16. "this is no declaration, i just thought i'd let you know goodbye"
17. ...see you sometime.

Seriously, if I could become a weird hybrid of my Dad, Dave, Nick and my crazy high-school English teacher? I would be (in my eyes) the most awesome person ever.

Note: I'm from England so 'college' over here isn't what you (I'm assuming Americans) would think. Your college is our university. Our college is like... the last two years of (American) high-school (usually at ages 16-18). I think that's right anyway.

Notes2: This mix was a thousand times harder to make than its 'companion' for Eng. Lit. (and so it's had slightly less 'quality control').

A true labor of respect and concern. This was hard to do, no?

Nice. I think your sociology prof got the better bargain, at least from the standpoint of variety, but this is cool too.

This mix would be immensely enjoyable on it's own. The addition of notes on the making thereof only serve to enhance its appeal. Furthermore, it contains the best Dylan cover ever in track 2. Top marks and no need to resit.

Little Spencer Boys - It was hard in the sense that I struggled to find songs that would fit (and my music collection back then was a lot smaller then it is now). I had about five that I was completely sure of, while the others were chosen more hurriedly ad with less vetting.

Pop Kulcher - I completely agree, he's a much simpler bloke to figure out, and I had more associative tracks. Thanks loads for the comments, guys.

Nice, especially the Kate Bush & Byrds.
A really good Lit. teacher can draw out your creativity. I turned in my best essays (even submitted a paper comparing/contrasting Robert Frost's Provide, Provide with David Bowie's Cracked Actor once) for my toughest teachers & Profs.
