Comment:

[March 2005; 1/2] My first ever mix. Made for Hannah's - my oldest friend - sixteenth birthday, so was attempting a life/nostalgia/future... thing.
A random aside; I'm two years older than her (and less 'cool'), we're similar in humour but quite different in outlook and approach (and to some extentthe variety of our musical taste),and when doing this mix I was deeply startled by the just how different we are (and aren't).

01. Originally shoved in there because a few weeks before she'd raved about how great (in an ironic way) that song was. But then it became nicely fitting.
02. Because we're overly fond of that all-American family.
03. Appropriate for every other day of the year.
04. The obligatory 'sixteen' track.
05. Figured she liked the original, but this live version is faster and more fun.
06. A bit 'old' for her tastes, but one of my favourites.
07. i'll be grumpy on my own like i don't care. No matter how old you are...
08. Me raiding my Dad's album collection. Slightly cheesy, but wholly inspirational.
09. Tried for a 'progressing in age' thing. Not sure it worked.
10. God, I really dislike this track but I was aiming for 'cheesy and inspirational'.
11. An amazing end of childhood/realisation/reclaiming song.
12. but the future is certain, give us time to work it out. Not really relevent to the mix, but I fucking love David Byrne.
13. when I was born, they looked at me and said... This song? So much better than the album version.
14. Again with the age progression thing. The first song I played to myself on my eighteenth birthday.
15. Like 'Road To Nowhere' I love the... all encompassing aspect of the song. Life, death, everything.
16. "how did it go so fast?" you'll say as we are looking back. and then we'll understand we held gold dust in our hands.
17. This song is ridiculously versatile. Plus I knew she'd this track at least.
18. How can anybody not love The Simpsons?

Hmm. If only her birthday had been a month later, then I would have been enlightened enough to put some Dylan on there.

Barrydali; Indeed, indeed it is (even if I do say so myself!)
Tarrou; Thank you. You just made me day!
Nomates; I know, I know. I couldn't find it anywhere, so I had to go with those.
