Comment:
[March 2005; 2/2] Accompanying mix for Hannah's birthday, this one based around friendship songs (and an excuse to include a bunch of Disney stuff!).01. The vulture skit that occurs before this song is sung is one we'd do as kids; "so what d'you want to do today?" "i don't know, what do you wanna do?" etc., etc., etc.
02. you and i will walk together again. We've never been in the same class before (2 year age difference), but went to the same schools.
03. How could I not include this?!
04. so you better stick together if you wanna stick around. Dad's music collection again. Ilove this song.
05. So it's about an invisible friend, but the sentiment's in the right place.
06. I used to like this song, now it's horribly annoying - but I had to include it.
07. Great. Just reading the name gets it stuck in my head.
08. i've been with you such a long time. Sixteen years of being mates ain't too shabby, huh?
09. oh my friend, you haven't changed. I love the opening section to this song.
10. Irrelevent information; I didn't cry during Toy Story, but I did at Toy Story 2.
11. I, uh, prefer this to The Beatles' original. Sorry, but acoustic guitar completely owns.
12. Amazingly fun to turn up full blast and rock along to.
13. where ever you go, you know i'll be there.
14. More sap from Disney!
15. winter, spring, summer, or fall. This song does not leave me with a tear in my eye. No, not at all.
16. oh shit! there's a bear! could ya hand me that shotgun buddy? - also that chair!
17. I find that I'm unable to make a mix CD sans Belle & Sebastian without twitching uncontrollably.
18. I fucking love Paul Simon's Graceland album.
19. ...but you just haven't made me yet. The promise of freindship, it's kills me. I had a passionate three-week affair with this song.
20. can your friends do this? Here, I indulge my fondness for Robin Williams.
21. Grease = best musical ever. Also, this is such a brilliant closing song.
It was strange making this because I've never thought about my friendship with Hannah before. She's always been there, and even though we rarely see each other (especially now I'm at university, but times between us socialising have decreased over the past three/four years) but when we're back together it's never awkward or strange. And I've never acknowledged out friendship (or any others) in such a way before. Emotional expressiveness to the people closest to me ain't my usual style.
Feedback:
So this mix is clear. If you can't SAY it can't the mix SING it?
Cuteness abounds!! Love the Bright Eyes, James Taylor, and Velvet Underground songs, and youve included one of the only two Libertines songs that I like. Oh and I also f**king love Graceland. An ex-girlfriend of mine had a dog that would howl along in key to the intro of Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes! I often wonder what happened to that dog, if there was any justice in the world it would be a huge star now!
Clever AND joyous: my favorite combo
Little Spencer Boys; Exactly. Music is a wonderfulmedium for anti-social cowardly types like myself.
<bBarrydali; Niw you're just giving me ideas. I have elaborate musical plans for any animals I might own in the future.
