Comment:

I had a lot of fun making this one, and along with Sloan it's probably my favorite of the single artist mixes I've made. Like Sloan, Of Montreal has made several uneven albums, but their highs are very very high.

The mix was made before Sunlandic Twins arrived, but all other full-lengths except Cherry Peel are represented (I think).

Yep - I agree with your assessment. Great band with good albums. Nice comp here. 12 and 26 are real faves.

I'm with Sean. Your assessment is pretty much dead-on: I love the band, but have a hard time getting through many of the albums start to finish. Lots of great ideas, but they can get grating. But pluck the highlights from each album and you get one helluva mix. My own take on this looked fairly similar (though I made it prior to buying the last 2 albums, so it could use a bit of revamping).

I used to think their albums were hit-or-miss, but I think after a while they really grow on you. Hardly any of the tracks on anything they've done come off as weak to me now. Nonetheless, you've singled-out some of their best work, including "Spoonful of Sugar", "Lysergic Bliss", and the last 7 tracks. And as always with single artist mixes, I can't help but question the omissions that to me are glaring: no "Nickee Coco"? "Disconnect the Dots"? Those are my all-times faves, but I guess with such a prolific band it's easy for songs to get lost in the shuffle. Oh well. An all-Montreal mix is still better than pretty much any other CD out there

This is a super mix. This would make a great primer for my girlfrind as Of Montreal are playing here on Feb. 8th.
