Comment:

My brother-in-law is an avid fan of this group. I think I would put in a cd from time to time and think "WTF is this???" I didn't get it. It wasn't until a few years ago that I actually sat down and actually listened. I mean really listened. I was blown away. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. . . It was incredibly beautiful. Liz's vocals were so haunting yet seemingly angelic. Her vioce and vocal styles are so unique. The songwriting, the melodies, the way the songs were put together. . . Anyways, I am hooked. I don't know why it took me this long to figure this group out. So here are my fav Cocteau Twins songs. If you haven't heard of them or have not yet checked them out, I strongly suggest you do.(Even though Teardrop is a Massive Attack song, I still think Liz's vioce sounds so divine. And I like what they did with Thinner the Air.)

They're definitely an acquired taste, but I think they had some amazing music that, unlike others from the era (i.e. the Smiths, the Cure, etc.) does not seem enjoyed much of a popular resurgence. For my own listening pleasure, I ended up splitting them into an early mix and a later mix (which I apparently never posted), as there was easily enough stand-out material for 2 discs. That said, I can't say I listen to 'em all that often, but this reminds me that I should.
