Comment:

Compiling this mix was a major ballache! Halfway through i was about to give in, but thankfully i persevered. Whilst planning a guilty pleasures mix I decided to check if anyone had used my Go Go's choice on a mix before. As it happened no one had, so my thoughts veered off into a different direction... I decided to compile a mix consisting of songs never before used by a mixer on AOTM. 2 Rules.. 1) I had to own the track, obviously & 2) I couldn't just include any old rubbish. This mix had to be great goddamit. So, I started trawling through my record collection. I hit many a brick wall... 60s rarities ( Moe, McDonald12), 80s/90s Indie ( p the swede ), general oddities ( Curtis_Burns). But slowly, very slowly infact, things started falling into place. The end result is one i'm very happy with. This should be lame, but it isn't in the slightest ( anyone wanting a copy, just drop me a line ). Oh, and one more thing, before anyone grumbles.. the Cilla Black track is a terrific Pop Song. It really is!

Gosh, but you're cool Sam! The only thing I've ever heard on here is the Dan Pickett song - though I'm familiar with many of the artists. I bet it's great!

I know that I'm prone to rabbit on a bit. Believe me I could right a thesis on this mix. But....but..I'll just say this Sammyg -- 26th May 1999 -- this is up there...

I hate to fly into this glorious ointment, but track 20 has a couple typos. I'd love to hear it!

Of course, there is a reason why these songs have never appeared before and hopefully never will again. (mais c'est une blague). Perhaps Curtis Burns should name all of his mixes "AOTM debuts". He'd be up to volume what, 30002 by now?

Quite the undertaking Sam! Youve snookered me on everything but the Cilla Black and the Chameleons tracks! The very thought of the ups and downs that would go with making a mix like this make my hair turn grey! Hats off to you, you are a brave soldier my friend!

Very coool. Hard to believe no one has tossed that snappy Go-Go's track on a mix. I posted a mix like this a few years ago, and it was a fun excercise, though I haven't attempted it since.

A great idea for a mix! I've got to try that, too, someday. Nest challenge: A mix with songs by artists that have never appeared here before...

This looks great. I think someone else (Moe, maybe?) did this a couple of years ago, but that doesn't make it a good idea that's worth re-doing. :-)

Nicely Done, and quite a bit of work, judging by how slow AOTM's searches can be.

For what it's worth, this is clean and neat. Great stuff SammyG. And shame on everyone for never having used that Lonnie Donegan track.

Received the mix a few days ago, and I'm really enjoying it. Plenty of great songs finally make an appearance on AOTM!

Finbally hearing it, I'm SURPRISED how good this is --- of course I wouldn't be so silly as to think that all the good tunes have already been discovered -- especially not by me -- but anyway, a real grab bag of goodies, & I especially like the new-to-me Dr Feelgood, the macarena-esque " Hir Ai Kam", the Twinkle & the Bristols. A lively assortment, and definitely a MIX!

A major accomplishment! I can barely imagine the research phase, AOTM site response time being generally slow lately, but it is all worth it in the listening phase. My favorite "discovery" was the rockabilly piece by Dr. Feelgood - great tune. Way to go, SammyG.
