Comment:
Although I've dabbled with sci-fi mixes in the past, I realize my contribution to The Space mix arrives hot on the heels of music gnome's superb Space double. I've tried not to step on his mixing toes which is kind of difficult as we both have similar tastes, sounds and extensive collections. I think I've avoided this so far but the next volume might trespass on his mixes. If it does I hope he won't mind. This mix features 3 contributions from Barry Gray - 2 of which are extended re-mixes featuring dialogue and the third an extended suite. Thanks to Cruella for Donovan track.2001: A Space Odyssey (UK / USA) (1968) d: Stanley Kubrick, Keir Dullea. No need for notes on this particular movie - if you need `em you should be ashamed of yourself.
Space 1999 (England) (1975-77) (TV) Martin Landau, Barbra Bain. 311 inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha alone in Space.
Rampatrouille (West Germany) (1966) (TV) Dietmar Sch÷nherr. Adventures on the Star Ship Orion. Only 7 episodes were made.
Dr. Who (England) (1963-) (BBC) Set on numerous locales dotted round the universe.
UFO (England) (1969-70) (ITC TV) Ed Bishop, George Sewell. Also featured Gabrielle Drake brother of Nick. Set in 1980, SHADO (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organization) has it's headquarters beneath a Film studio. It also had a base beneath the sea and obviously the moon.
Outland (UK) (1981) d: Peter Hyams, Sean Connery. High Noon in Space - to be precise the mining colony of Io.
Captain Scarlet (England) (1967-) Childrens puppet show. Though predominantly set on planet earth, the episode Lunarville 7 takes place on the moon. Show was re-launched successfully swapping puppets for state of the art computerised animation.
Feedback:
This sends me way out there.
Wow, makes you wanna' wait for a dip in the Mercury, grab Venus, and dance under the Moonlight while shakin' Uranus.
Love this!!!
I have Volume Three on the way...just got a cut out a few tunes to fit...and work on sequencing.
But, I don't see too many overlaps on this...which is super spledid.

Yes. Yes, I do. I wanna drive it all night, my hands wet on the wheel...
Outta sight!
I've read and re-read this tracklist 3 times now and i cannot find Babylon Zoo anywhere. Surely some kind of oversight Dom? But I jest, this looks Far out.
space is the place
Too early in the morning for a space pun, but this is top nothch yet again!
Nice splashdown, Dom.
Love the theme.
crikey, in one day I have admitted to being a Neil Young fan and now a sci fi fan - eek!I'd love to hear some of these old them tunes again - Space 1999 and UFO - whoaaaah !Great stuff !
of course, when I said Neil Young, I meant Neil Diamond - guess what i am listening to at the moment! Derrr, what am I!!
Outta this world!
Major Dom to ground control: This is terrific!
If you'll accompany me as I haven't yet gained my spaceship pilots license, I'd be only too pleased to take your craft out for a spin round the galaxy. The onboard sounds are just as Cruella said.
A fantastic voyage indeed!
Send a copy to Sun Ra!
Once again you've transcended all the obvious choices & lifted off into the upper atmosphere. Stand back for that Intergalactic Laxative!
