Tales of the Proverbial 2nd Chance v 61
Comment:
Reprise of the the history of Power Pop. Interesting note (and I am not making this up at all), when Deborah Harry says "You got a few more inches, don't ya?" during Bang A Gong, it was me she was talking to. The year was 1980, Rockpile was the opening band, and earlier Debbie had grabbed my hand and sang In The Flesh to me. It was a night I would never forget, and when Capitol released the live album many many moons later, it was a true kick in the butt. Music for suits and tennis shoes.
Feedback:
Nice & Poppy, Jon.
(so...I guess you were wearing platform shoes that night???) :D

Fantastic anecdote! Fantastic mix! S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night -- it's the Rollers for Chris-sake! You are, quite literally DA MAN!
Superb overview
It was such a weird night. Tickets were something like six dollars, even the date listing on the Capitol elpee is wrong 'cause the show had been cancelled and the venue changed. When Rockpile came on, everyone was sitting on their butts on the dance floor and the Basher demanded that folks dance. Down Down Down was the intro and the floor erupted and never let up. When Debbie said "I can't wait to touch you," I took the cue and threw my hand up to her from about three people back. She grabbed it and pulled me up to the front and every male jaw dropped and hit the floor. She was wearing just a T shirt pulled over panties. After that all the guys started pressing the stage more with each song. We were squished at the end. The band was really into it as Heart of Glass wouldn't hit number one until their appearance on the Midnight Special the following week, so they didn't want to leave the stage. And that is what created the jam at the end of the show that is included on this mix. If you listen, you can hear how it just peters out. The lights were already on, the crowd was worn out, and I was sick with acute gastritis for the next ten days. And G.A.B., they became platforms in spirit, but I think they were boat shoes.
awesome!
Awesome indeed. Great stuff, story and mix.
What a great story! The mix aint too shabby either..
AND Skinny Ties. Kwel Pop, and a Great Mix. I am certainly glad that it is still alive. I will think of you when I hear Blondie sing!
Leave it to Jonpoi to bring out the Motors!!!! (We don't see enough of those guys, imho, 'round here! Mmm, "..late night final!") Great story, too..but then you're well & truly full of 'em. We'll expect more, too.
Great story! Something to tell the grandkids. Nice to see you back here after a long absence!
Very cool.
More good stuff my friend!
This is hilarious and great.
