Comment:

This has been gestating for a while, hence many bands that I don't really listen to as much anymore. But still, I knew I had to make an ultimate party mix at some point, one that used as many great songs with the word "party" or "dance" in them as possible. That doesn't mean I just chose everything, though. There are a lot of like-minded tunes out there that I hate or simply weren't good enough to be included. Even a lot of the quality ones had to be cut for length. If I could do a director's cut, there would be at least 35 more songs on here (I'm particularly sad that I forgot to make any room for Aqua, but I'm probably the only one). Oh well. As someone who hates going to parties, doesn't like social situations, and is rather shy, I should have no business making a mix like this, but the fact is, I love the IDEA of a party as much as anyone, and exuberant music is my bread and butter. Ergo, I will enjoy this particular jamboree in the solitude of my bedroom and/or with my small, close-knit circle of friends.

I had to sprinkle in some classic cliched party songs (Bee Gees, New Order, KISS) just because I love them so much. They're classics for a reason. And I can't apologize for some songs that a lot of people might consider annoying, because this is my party and I'm the DJ. Despite my misanthropy, everyone is invited, but don't get on my case for forgetting your favorite party hits, like any hardcore techno, or that Pink song. I've been working off and on on this for a few years now, so I've considered an extraordinary amount of music, and stuck with these 60 tracks for a reason. Just go with the flow, and I promise you a good time :)

And yes, all caps for the title were absolutely necessary

Hey, I'd want this in MY party collection. ... You know I have to assume that the omission of 'Havin A Party' by Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes simple means that you are starting on the NEXT two CD set, right??? (You knew I HAD to say that)

Well, hit me upside the head and whisper sweet nothings! Have you no shame? You create a party mix to end all party mixes and issue no -- none -- not one -- zero -- zilch -- invitations. I realise you don't even know me, but hey, I'm the veritable "life and soul" -- really I am. I can Boogaloo, Shimmy, Shake and Watusi -- what more so you need in a party guest? I'm miffed and will probably sulk and stew here until I receive satisfaction. It looks like a long night....Frank Popp Ensemble -- nice one!
